The closer I can get to a definition of who I am and what I do to introduce myself as a Multipotentialite Artist & Therapist.
I’ve always liked to feel that my work is diverse and creative, probably that’s why I studied Cinema in university, as I saw it as the most malleable art form, with infinite possibilities of creation and integration of all the different arts in one piece charged with meaning.
I currently play and work as a filmmaker, photographer, dancer, and writer, among other things, but I’m also a trained coach and bodyworker.
I’m very excited to offer you this new service I am launching in 2024. My intention with it is not only to integrate these two areas that I love -film creation and coaching- but also I want to offer you as my client, all the professional and human tools I have learned for the past ten years, in a comprehensive program that values the creative aspects of your craft as much as your wellbeing as a still unexperienced director.
I truly believe that as directors our films are not separated from our values and identities. The stories we tell on the screen are stories that have deeply touched our lives in some way or another. That is why my interest is guiding you with professional tools for your film to reach its maximum potential, as well as offering you an emotional-spiritual safe space for you to navigate the personal process that unfolds on the way of creation.
Some of my story:
I was born in Chile. At age 23, I graduated from Film Direction and Social Communication at Universidad Católica de Chile in 2014.
The same year I screened my very first documentary, 23.
23 is a first-person documentary that I made to clarify one essential issue of my upbringing: the reason why I was raised by my grandparents instead of my own parents (you can watch the trailer and rent the short film here ).
This film was not only the first one in which I participated in international festivals but was also the most challenging and vulnerable art piece I have done so far. I grew a lot as an artist in the making, and I have always wanted to be available to assist directors with similar projects.
I’ve been working as a Writer, Director, and Editor of documentaries and experimental films since then. I also worked as a Producer and Assistant Director in fiction pieces, as a producer in a film festival, and as a Cinema Teacher for first-year students, at the same university where I obtained my degrees.
It was in this last experience that I understood how deeply I enjoy providing support and guidance to young and first-time directors. I was there through their entire creative process, from conceptualizing their first film ideas to the very editing and post-production stage of their pieces. They will come without any notion of storytelling or the basic aspects of photography, and at the end of the semester, they will deliver pretty decent short films. It was mesmerizing and fulfilling to accompany them as a mentor.
Some years later, I left my country, started traveling the world, and settled down in South India for a four of years, in an International community, working mainly as a video editor and content creator. During those years I learned a lot about Indian Spirituality, Yoga, Mindfulness, Dance Therapy, IFS (internal family systems), and many other spiritual, psychological, and emotional regulatory tools to overcome fears and obstacles and sustain successfully oneself in any creative endeavour.
From all these interests and experiences is that I have build this unique service for you. I hope my story and proposal will captivate you and you will reach out as soon as possible so we can start working together on your promising project.
Valentina.
